Here at OOMOMO, we love to deliver on what our shoppers want from us. When you brought us out of matcha tea tools time after time, we knew we had to kick things into high gear. That's why we're thrilled to announce our new line of matcha tools exclusive to OOMOMO!
We hold tea very close to our hearts at Oomomo. You may have already noticed our exclusive Oomomo-brand Japanese tea cups, which hit our shelves back in December. Well, now we’ve decided to gift you the entire ‘chaji’ (tea ceremony) experience.
We first want to introduce you to the four types of matcha whisk that we have made just for you.

Once you have chosen the whisk that is right for you, be sure to pick up a ‘chashaku’ (matcha scoop). To scoop just the right amount of tea, use the ‘chashaku’ and make sure it’s a heaped scoop. One heaped scoop is typical for the average cup of matcha, but you can add more or less, according to your taste.
Now you’re ready to host your own ‘chaji’. Traditionally, guests sit on the floor and eat a sweet treat while the host prepares the tea. Once the tea is made, it is placed in front of the guest(s) with the ‘front’ of the cup facing the guest. If you are the guest, you pick up the cup with your right hand and place it on your left palm. You then use your right hand to turn the cup clockwise 90 degrees so that the ‘front’ of the cup is no longer facing you. Drink the tea in a few sips, and then return it to the floor or table once finished. All participants should bow to express gratitude for the tea, and the ceremony is finished.

To keep your matcha whisk in good condition and to retain the shape, you should store it on a ‘kusenaoshi’ (matcha whisk holder). Wash your whisk with a gentle stream of hot water, then carefully dry and store it string-side down on the holder. Never use soap to clean your whisk, and never put it in the dishwasher.
